About Me

ABOUT ME

Hey, I'm Waliya Turgeon!

I'm currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in preschool and elementary education. I love teaching children and have often had the opportunity to tutor them to help them acquire new skills or improve their academic performance. I believe every child can learn and succeed. All it takes is personalized support and belief in them to encourage them to excel.

My favourite moment is seeing the spark of understanding shine in the eyes of a student who is proud to have understood! By creating Premium Tutoring, I hoped to see dozens of little sparks shine... Children's academic success is a subject close to my heart. Helping a child succeed is helping the world progress!

My Approach to Tutoring

At Premium Tutoring, every session is built on one simple belief:

every child can learn and thrive with the right support.

My goal isn’t just to help students improve their grades — it’s to help them build confidence, curiosity, and a love for learning that lasts.

When I first meet with a student, we set clear, realistic goals together. This gives our sessions direction and helps keep motivation high, even when we’re working through tough topics. From there, I tailor each session to your child’s unique needs and learning style.

Here’s how I help students grow:

A Personalized Plan

No two learners are the same. That’s why I take the time to understand each student’s starting point — their strengths, challenges, and learning style. From there, we build a plan that works for them.

My goal is to meet every student where they are and guide them to where they’re meant to be — with patience, encouragement, and a teaching approach that grows with them.

When learning feels personal and supported, confidence and progress come naturally.

Learning Through Questions

The right question can lead to the right breakthrough.

I use guided questions to help students think for themselves and connect new ideas with what they already know.

This strengthens understanding and builds real independence — because when a student can explain a concept in their own words, they truly get it.

Making Learning Fun & Engaging

When learning feels like fun, it sticks. I use games, word activities, and creative exercises — especially with younger students — to keep sessions engaging and effective.

Whether it’s building vocabulary or practicing problem-solving, fun becomes a powerful tool for mastering new skills.

Making Learning Real and Relatable

Big ideas become easier to understand when they’re connected to stories and real life.

I use storytelling and analogies to break down tricky concepts in subjects like math, science, French, and English. At the same time, I help students see how what they’re learning applies to everyday situations — whether it’s using math while shopping or spotting grammar patterns in a favorite book.

These connections make lessons more relatable, meaningful, and enjoyable to remember.

Learning Through Illustration

For many kids, seeing is understanding. Because some things are just easier to grasp when you can see them,

I use drawings, diagrams, and the Zoom whiteboard to visually explain tough ideas in smaller, simpler steps.

These tools make abstract concepts more concrete, helping students stay engaged, follow along more easily, and build real confidence as they learn.
